It is still unclear what causes multiple sclerosis, but following different statistics can be useful in understanding which groups of people are more likely to develop it. When it comes to cost of the treatment, it is often quite expensive. A patient will need to spend anywhere from $8.500-54.000 annually, on average, in order to keep the symptoms in check.

During pregnancy women are usually in a relapse-free period, however, after the delivery around 30% of them experience relapses.

 

Link between some other conditions and multiple sclerosis has been found. 

There are four types of ms, but the one most patients (85% of them) initially get diagnosed with is relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis. Out of that number, 50% will later progress into secondary progresive ms.
